POSTPRODUCTION SUPERVISOR / EDITOR

Description
Basic Responsibilities: The Postproduction Supervisor/Editor is responsible for all aspects of postproduction including editing key show segments, final show assembly, color correction, graphic elements and quality control of 12 half hours for a Public Television series; technical oversight, scheduling and supervision of all postproduction equipment; and supervision of IN THE LIFE MEDIA's content delivery for broadcast. The Postproduction Supervisor/Editor is also required to manage a DVD build of each broadcast episode. The Postproduction Supervisor/Editor reports to the Series Producer.
Responsibilities
Edit 1-2, 8-10 minute lead segment(s) per annual season
Edit 10, 8-10 min. "A Conversation With" segments and 6, 5-7 minute secondary segments per annual season
Edit program packages (Interstitials, promos, teases etc)
Coordinate source material for all broadcast content
Assemble & output final shows for Network delivery
Compile and insert lower-thirds and end-credit information in keeping with ITLM style guide
Quality control for broadcast specifications (APT) and deliverables for all shows in the series and special projects
Supervise digitizing of media by postproduction intern
Create and revise as necessary accurately timed final rundown sheets
Schedule, deliver and retrieve programs for closed captioning. Coordinate any follow up.
Supervise audio recording, mixing, final layback sessions. Compile and organize final VO scripts
In addition to Editorial RESPONSIBILITIES, the Postproduction Supervisor/Editor also has the following duties:
Upkeep and maintenance of Final Cut Pro edit suites and related equipment
Research of technological trends to enhance productivity, access and quality
Research, recommendation and coordination of all postproduction purchases
Creation of editing guidelines and systems for in-house and external editors
Software management and license inventory for postproduction applications
Management of monthly DVD build and duplication
Retrieval of all original source tapes and materials from segment producers
Archiving of all finished shows in keeping with ITLM practices
Research and recommend digital storage options for ITLM archive
Coordinate ITLM archive database creation and maintenance
Qualifications
3-5 years experience working as a Postproduction Supervisor and/or Editor on series television. National Public Television experience preferred.
Highly proficient in Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, DVD Studio Pro and Compressor
Familiarity with Standard Definition workflow, format conversion and device control architecture
Ideal candidate has experience with APT broadcast specs and delivery of a national Public Television series
Successful candidate is technically proficient, detail oriented and highly organized with strong communication skills
SALARY RANGE: $50-$55K

IN THE LIFE is broadcast on 246 public television stations nationwide, including all of the top 20 viewer markets, reaching 75 million U.S. households each month. This is an outstanding opportunity to work within the television industry/media-space, and gain valuable insight and practical experience in the areas of public relations, marketing and promotions within the LGBT market. This is an ideal opportunity for students majoring in public relations, communications, business, marketing, social services, or someone interested in a career within PR and/or the nonprofit sector.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist IN THE LIFE's Communications Officer, working within a busy, fast-paced Communications department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; administrative support, station/media relations, community outreach, assembling media kits, drafting press releases and other communications-oriented material. A minimum of a 10-12 hour work week over a 3-month time period is required.
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential! This is a "hands-on" opportunity in a dynamic environment. As such, having a good sense of humor, but a professional approach to problem-solving and staying on task is critical. Familiarity with MS Word and Excel is preferred.

Seeking a production intern to assist in the operation of a busy production office as needed: administrative support, research, field production, editing. 16 to 24 hrs a week commitment; 8 weeks for screen credit; 3 months minimum.
Qualifications
Ability to communicate concisely; computer literate (word processing, data entry, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer helpful). Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented. A good sense of humor, yet reliable and remarkable work ethic. Insightful knowledge of political, health, social, economic and cultural issues facing the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Strong commitment to social justice and excellent television programming. Although this is a non-paid internship, you will be exposed to all areas of production. This is a real hands-on internship. No just "making coffee" here. It is up to you how far you go and what you make of it.

Working with Series Producer, freelancers take stories from development to completion, writing script, shooting interviews with crew, overseeing editing and supplying all deliverables on time and within budget. This is part-time only and perfect for producers who can manage multiple freelance projects simultaneously. Only producers with broadcast experience will be considered.
