A Call for Submissions

IN THE LIFE, America's pioneer gay and lesbian series on public television, is looking for real stories from real people.

A three-time Emmy Award nominee, IN THE LIFE is the pioneering documentary series that tells powerful stories about the people and issues shaping the gay experience, nationally and abroad. Currently in its 16th season, In the Life is broadcast on 246 public television stations nationwide, reaching over 70 million U.S. households.

Now we want to hear from you! We are looking for documentary-style shorts that address gay life and culture. This is a way for IN THE LIFE to showcase stories in your town, your life, with your perspective, on YOUR terms. Tell us!

• Option 1: About an issue going on in your town that affects the LGBT community

• Option 2: Gay life in your town

• Option 3: Sound off! What's on your mind? What issues affecting the LGBT community are important to you?

Submission Guidelines

Format:

• All submissions MUST be 3-10 minutes
• Acceptable formats for submission are DV, DVCAM, or BetaSP
• 1 minute of video black or color bars at the head of the tape, followed by a slate/title card indicating the name of the piece, running time, completion date and producer/director name and contact information
• 5 seconds of black between the slate/title card and your work
• 30 seconds of black at the tail-end of all content
• Send tape with all forms (Release and Application) to:
